Markus Hartel (Street Photographer)

Markus Hartel is a well-known street photographer whose works are recognized nationally  and internationally. He is from Germany and he moved to NYC in 2002. According to him, street photography is capturing slices of daily life. And many of his photos are taken in black & white. He takes photos of strangers in the streets and the subway stations of NYC. As many of the artists who love NYC, Markus Hartel is also inspired by the vibrant energy that this city exudes.

I love street photography because of its rawness and authenticity. His photos show how beautiful, and yet how fleeting our ordinary days can be. "Finding the extra ordinary out of the ordinary" is maybe what we need to overcome the boredom of our daily life, and be grateful for the things we took for granted.

Anyway. if you are interested, you can find out more about him in the website below.
He offers NYC street photography walking tours and workshops.
